- Understanding the Precautions
While our products are considered safe, there are always conditions when caution should be taken. NeuroGenesis strives to keep informed on studies that present a legitimate health concern. Below are some precautions we feel warrant addressing:
- Phenylketonurics -- This is a rare metabolic disease that prevents the conversion of the essential amino acid, phenylalanine, into a useful form. Those with this condition are aware of it and are on very stringent diets. Every baby born in the US is tested for Phenylketonuria (PKU).
- MAOI's -- (Mono Amine Oxidase Inhibitors). These are antidepressants that are seldom used (i.e.Parnate, Marplan or Nardil). If unsure, ask your physician or pharmacist.
- Antipsychotic medications -- These meds work to suppress the release of dopamine and sometimes serotonin. Our products work to increase the production of these same neurotransmitters. If unsure about prescriptions you are taking, ask your physician or pharmacist.
- Pregnant or lactating women -- Anyone who is pregnant or nursing a baby, or who wants to get pregnant, should always consult their health care professional before taking any medication or nutritional supplement.
- Panic Disorders -- Most people experience some anxiety, this precaution is for those who have a history of panic attacks. NeuRelieve is the one NeuroGenesis product that can be taken by those experiencing panic attacks -- as long as none of the previous four (4) is an issue.
- Parkinson's disease - One of the symptoms of Parkinson's is the depletion of dopamine, this is usually treated with l-dopa, a building block for dopamine. Since most of our products contain l-phenylalanine another building block, it is recommended you consult a physician.
- Hypertension - Although l-phenylalanine is not known to cause hypertension it can sometimes exacerbate an already existing problem. Those who are sensitive to norepinephrine (aka adrenaline) should not take any of our products which contain l-phenylalanine.
- Pigmented melanoma - Recent studies have shown that people who have this condition should not take phenylalanine or tyrosine because they may increase the ability of the disease to spread.
Anyone who is taking medication or receiving medical care for any disease or disorder should consult their health care professional before taking any other product -- prescription or supplement. NeuroGenesis supplements are not intended to take the place of any medication. Anyone taking medication should put 2-3 hours between our product and the medication.
